Wordpress Tutorials - Adding Images
Using "FCKEditor"
Wordpress
comes with a default text editor.
However BIS clients usually are using a
more advanced editor called "FCKeditor"
that I installed when I first set up
your new wordpress website. The
thing most people have problems with as
they are learning to use their new
wordpress website is adding pictures.
So, I've put together this little
tutorial to help you along the way.
Again, if you are having issues and this
does not help just give me a ring or
send out and email and I'll do what I
can to help you get going.
Let's
first just log into your Wordpress
Website and open the page you would like
to add a picture to. I'm assuming
at this point you know how to open your
page in the editor.

1.
First just put your curser where you
want your image to be. Notice here
I put mine between two paragraphs and
centered it.
2.
Next just click on the add image icon in
the tool bar. You'll see it up
there in the second row. It's a yellow
box with a sun and mountain in it.
Now just click it and a window will pop
up.

3. Ok,
you've opened the "Image Properties"
window. Now we want to click on
the "Upload" tab circled above.

4. Now
click "Browse". Another window
will open and you can go find the image
on your computer. Once you find the
image, just double click it and hit ok.
That will land you right back here with
a bunch of text in the "upload" box like
you see in my graphic. Now, and
this is IMPORTANT, click "Send it to
Server"

5.
After the image uploads this little box
will show up saying "Your file has been
successfully uploaded. Just click
"OK" and. . . .

5. You
should then come right back to this
screen. You'll notice that I can
now see the image I've uploaded in the
preview window. (if you don't see
the image, something went wrong and you
need to try again). Now I can
resize the image, add a border, add
space around the image and change the
alignment. When you are done, just
click "OK".
* It's
worth noting here that it's good
practice to resize the images in an
image editor such as Photoshop or
Photoshop Elements first. If you
choose to upload an image that is say
1mg and just resize it in this screen,
the image is still 1mg and will take
forever to display on your website.
Chances are it will look awful as well.

5.
After you click OK, you should see the
image in your text editor. Now if
all is good, you can just click on
"save" and your image will now be on
your website. Done!!!
If
you want to change something, click once
on the image, then click on the "insert
image" button again and you will then be
able to adjust the properties.
Hopefully this will get you started with
adding images to your Wordpress pages.
I will be adding other tutorials as I
have time. Good Luck!!! |
